Motherhood is beautiful, but it can also be heavy, overwhelming, and lonely. That’s why we created a space just for moms, where your struggles are seen, your story is honored, and your support comes from someone who truly understands.
Here are answers to the questions we hear most often:
What’s a mom therapist, and why does it matter?
A mom therapist is more than a counselor; they specialize in perinatal mental health, including postpartum anxiety, depression, fertility struggles, and birth trauma. With PMH-C certification, they understand the unique challenges of motherhood, from hormonal shifts to sleep deprivation. Unlike general therapists, mom therapists recognize what’s “normal,” what’s not, and how to help you feel grounded, supported, and yourself again, without judgment or dismissal.
Is virtual therapy actually helpful?
Yes! Research indicates that virtual therapy is as effective as in-person sessions. Many moms appreciate the flexibility, the lack of a commute, and the reduced stress associated with online therapy. Whether you choose to attend sessions during nap time, while in your car, or from the comfort of your couch, you will still receive meaningful support. Virtual therapy makes it easier to access consistent care, which increases the likelihood of sticking with it and achieving the progress you deserve.
Where do you offer services?
We provide support for mothers throughout Massachusetts, from Boston to the Berkshires and everywhere in between. Since we operate entirely online, you can access expert and compassionate care no matter where you are in the state. There’s no need to deal with traffic, travel, or childcare stress, just genuine support that meets you where you are, both emotionally and physically. If you’re a mom in Massachusetts, we’re here for you.
Do you take insurance?
We do not bill insurance directly, but we are considered out-of-network providers. Seeking an out-of-network provider gives you more freedom, reduces red tape, and ensures insurance limitations do not dictate your care. If you wish to submit a claim for possible reimbursement, we can provide a superbill. Additionally, we accept HSA and FSA cards, offering flexible cost management while still prioritizing personalized, high-quality support.
So, what’s the benefit for me if you don’t take insurance?
Self-pay means no labels, no limits, and no surprises. You and your therapist determine the frequency and duration of your sessions, rather than insurance companies. Additionally, it ensures privacy, as no third party has access to your personal information. You can seek support before issues reach a crisis point, and you’ll always know the costs upfront. This approach is flexible, empowering, and centered on your needs rather than on paperwork.
How much does it cost?
We operate as a self-pay practice with transparent pricing based on session type. Sessions include an initial 60- to 90-minute intake session, ongoing therapy, and session packages: The Reset (3 sessions), The Rebuild (6 sessions) and The Reclaim (10 sessions). Our session packages are designed for short-term treatment and offer discounted pricing per session.
If you’d like, we can provide a superbill for you to use to seek possible reimbursement. Additionally, you can use your HSA or FSA card for payment.
What’s a session like?
Your first session is a 60- to 90-minute intake, providing a safe and in-depth conversation where we can get to know you and your needs. Following this, subsequent sessions usually last 50 minutes, are flexible, and are guided by you. Some days we may focus on unpacking big-picture challenges, while other times we might process the day-to-day chaos of motherhood. If you’re unsure if this is the right fit for you, we offer complimentary 15-minute consultations to help determine if we are a match.
How soon can I start?
Most new clients schedule a Complimentary 15-minute consultation within one to two weeks. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll book your first session quickly. Availability can vary by season. We’ll share current openings, suggest convenient times, and offer a short waitlist when needed.
What happens during the first session?
We review your goals, history, and current concerns at a comfortable pace. You’ll learn what therapy might look like, ask questions, and leave with at least one practical step to try. There’s no pressure to share more than you want on day one together, ever.
How many sessions will I need?
Frequency depends on your goals and season of life. Many start weekly, then shift to biweekly or monthly as symptoms improve. Time-bound packages, such as fourth-trimester support, can offer structure and savings. We’ll revisit your plan together regularly and adjust when needs or schedules change.
What concerns do you treat?
We focus on maternal mental health across motherhood: fertility stress, pregnancy anxiety or depression, intrusive thoughts, birth trauma, NICU stress, postpartum depression or anxiety, bonding challenges, parenting stress, relationship strain, and perimenopausal changes. If a need falls outside our scope, we’ll recommend resources that fit.
Do you work with partners or spouses?
Yes. Partners often attend selected sessions to strengthen communication, share the mental load, and set helpful routines. Sessions remain focused on your goals. If couples therapy becomes the main need, we can refer to a specialist while continuing your support, check-ins, and practical planning.
Can you prescribe medication?
No. As a licensed mental health counselor, Danielle does not prescribe medication. When medication might help, we can coordinate—at your request—with your OB/GYN, primary care provider, or a psychiatric prescriber. Therapy often pairs well with medical care, sleep support, and steady, realistic daily routines.
Do you see clients after NICU stays or traumatic births?
Yes. We offer focused support for NICU parents and those recovering after a difficult birth. Sessions often blend trauma-informed approaches with practical tools for sleep, anxiety, and bonding. We move at your pace and build a plan that fits medical guidance and everyday home life.
Do you help with perimenopause and midlife changes?
Yes. We support mood shifts, sleep changes, irritability, and identity questions that can arise in your forties and fifties. Care often includes CBT or ACT skills, stress reduction, and values-based planning for work, family, and caregiving. We collaborate with medical providers when helpful and available.
