The path to parenthood rarely looks the way you imagined. You might be trying to conceive naturally and facing months of disappointment. You might be making decisions about IVF, IUI, or donor conception. You might be waiting for an adoption match or navigating surrogacy. Each path carries its own emotional weight.
Fertility journeys involve hope, loss, uncertainty, and decision fatigue. You might feel like you're constantly waiting for test results, appointment calls, or the right moment. You might feel isolated because most people don't understand what this process takes.
At The Motherhood Wellness Center, led by Danielle Kornacki, LMHC, PMH-C, we provide practical, skills-based support for individuals and couples preparing for or actively pursuing parenthood. Our approach helps you manage anxiety, communicate clearly with your partner, and build routines that protect your emotional bandwidth during a demanding time.
We serve clients throughout Massachusetts, including Boston, Worcester, Cambridge, Newton, Framingham, and surrounding communities. All sessions are conducted via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth.
Did You Know?
According to RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, about 1 in 8 couples experience infertility, defined as the inability to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse. The emotional toll often includes anxiety, depression, relationship strain, and grief that many people don't talk about openly.
Ways We Can Help
Two-Week Wait Anxiety
Practice grounding techniques and attention shifts that reduce rumination and symptom-spotting. Create routine anchors that help you stay engaged in daily life while waiting for test results.
Partner Communication
Build shared language and clarify roles during treatment cycles. Learn fair check-in routines that reduce blame and resentment. Support each other when grief timelines differ or decisions feel overwhelming.
Boundary Setting
Develop scripts for declining intrusive questions from family members, requesting accommodations at work, and protecting your privacy during a vulnerable time.
TTC & Fertility Stress
Build coping skills for the two-week wait between ovulation and testing. Learn how to manage hope and disappointment without letting either one consume your life. Set boundaries with people who ask intrusive questions about when you'll have children.
IVF/IUI & Donor Conception Decisions
Clarify your values and set realistic expectations for medical treatments. Use decision grids to map options, feelings, and tradeoffs so your choices feel clear and owned. Process anticipatory grief, financial stress, and the physical demands of hormone treatments and procedures.
Adoption & Surrogacy Support
Process mixed emotions about non-traditional paths to parenthood. Manage uncertainty during waiting periods and prepare emotionally for match meetings or disruptions. Navigate complex feelings about how your family is forming.
Grief & Loss
Process the emotional weight of negative pregnancy tests, failed cycles, or the loss of how you imagined parenthood would happen. Make space for disappointment while staying connected to hope.
Our Approach (Practical and Gentle)
Coping Skills
Learn grounding techniques, cognitive defusion strategies, and emotion regulation practices. These micro-skills take minutes and help you manage anxiety during high-stress phases like the two-week wait, medical procedures, or disappointing results.
Communication Tools
Practice scripts for medical appointments, family conversations, and workplace requests. Learn partner check-in routines that keep you aligned without triggering conflict or avoiding difficult topics.
Trauma-Responsive Care
Move at your own pace. You decide what to share and when. Opt out of any exercise or topic that doesn't feel right. We prioritize safety, choice, and collaboration in every session.
Cycle-Aware Routines
Build energy plans that match your body's reality across the month. Schedule lighter social weeks during stimulation phases, protect sleep during hormone treatments, and create self-care plans that support your bandwidth during ovulation or transfer windows.
Decision Support
Use decision grids and values clarification exercises to weigh options like continuing treatment, stopping, or pursuing alternative paths. Process tradeoffs around cost, physical burden, timelines, and emotional readiness.
Care Coordination
With your written consent, we can share updates with your OB-GYN, REI clinic, or doula to align emotional support with medical timelines. We complement your medical care without replacing it.
What Sessions Look Like
Sessions take place virtually via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. Most clients start weekly to build momentum and learn skills quickly. As coping strategies become second nature, you can shift to biweekly sessions. We increase frequency around procedures or difficult transitions, then space out when you're more stable.
You're always in control of what we discuss. If you don't want to talk about specific medical details, we focus on present-moment coping skills. If you want to process a disappointing outcome, we move at your pace.
Therapy helps you feel more like yourself. Clients typically experience lower reactivity to triggers, clearer decisions about treatment options, steadier routines that protect sleep and mood, better communication with partners and providers, and reduced isolation through validation and shared language.
